Ondo APC Crisis: Obanla Accuses Governor Aiyedatiwa of Orchestrating Attack on Party Leaders

In a sharp rebuke of Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, prominent APC chieftain and former gubernatorial aide, Bode Obanla, has condemned what he described as a “dastardly attack” on party stakeholders at the APC State Secretariat in Akure earlier today.

In a statement shared with newsmen in the state capital, Obanla alleged that the violence, which saw party leaders and elders brutalized, was orchestrated by the governor himself.

He said, “Following the orchestrated attack on the leaders of our party today during a stakeholders’ meeting at the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress by thugs sponsored by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor has murdered sleep.”

Obanla expressed shock at the brutality, noting that members of the NURTW allegedly commissioned by the governor carried out the assault.

“It is disheartening to see leaders and elders of our party disgracefully brutalized and openly beaten… No Chief Security Officer of any state would permit such without his involvement,” he added.

The APC chieftain also condemned the destruction of party symbols during the attack.

“Your hired thugs tore the flags of the party that made you governor, bringing disgrace to our national leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. You are indeed a man of ‘history’. You have murdered sleep,” Obanla said.

While warning that the party would not tolerate such actions indefinitely, Obanla stressed that “nobody has the monopoly of violence. While we have chosen the path of peace, I believe that when a goat is pursued to the wall, it turns around to attack the pursuer.”
