The Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) has officially inaugurated its Springs Chapter during a colourful and well-attended ceremony that brought together Nigerian community leaders, South African stakeholders, traditional leaders, security agencies, youth representatives, and members of civic organizations.
The historic inauguration marked another major step in the continued expansion of NUSA structures across South Africa, reinforcing the union’s commitment to unity, peace, community development, and responsible leadership among Nigerians living in the diaspora.
Delivering the keynote address, the President General of NUSA, Smart Ikechukwu Nwobi, described the inauguration as “a declaration of purpose” aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence, grassroots representation, and stronger engagement between Nigerians and South African communities.
According to him, the Springs Chapter will serve as a platform for mediation, youth empowerment, humanitarian support, business networking, and community integration. He urged Nigerians residing in South Africa to remain law-abiding, responsible, and united irrespective of tribal, religious, or political differences.
The event also featured a goodwill message from the Guest Speaker and Grand Patron of NUSA, Chief Ike Anyene, who commended the leadership of the organization for promoting unity, discipline, and responsible leadership within the Nigerian community in South Africa.
Chief Anyene emphasized that unity remains the strongest weapon against division, xenophobia, and social instability, adding that Nigerians in South Africa must continue to build bridges of cooperation with local communities and institutions.
He further encouraged the newly inaugurated executives to lead with integrity, transparency, and accountability while prioritizing the welfare of community members.
The newly inaugurated Springs Chapter executives include Samuel Onyejiuwa Onwo as President, Stephen Ekeh as Vice President, Lawrence Rufus as Secretary, Princess Bakare as Financial Secretary, Humphrey Onwo as Treasurer, and Francis Ebenezer Oluwadare as Assistant Secretary.
Others are Chidiebere Okafor as Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Achugwo and Tolulope Sanni as Provosts.
Among prominent NUSA officials present at the ceremony were the Secretary General, Yomi Jola-Michael, Assistant Organizing Secretary, Emeka Dibie, SSA on Media and Publicity, George Omagbemi Sylvester, Secretary of Yeoville Ward, Sir Dutchy, and Youth Leader, Godswill Iwenofu.
The ceremony ended with renewed calls for African unity, peaceful coexistence, discipline, and stronger Nigeria–South Africa relations built on mutual respect and cooperation.
