Popular Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has reportedly passed away following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer, according to a statement released by his family on Tuesday and published on Wednesday.
In the emotional announcement signed on behalf of the family of Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, the actor was said to have died at Evercare Hospital after a “brief but courageous battle” with the illness.
The family described the late actor as a beloved husband, son, brother and friend, noting that he faced his health struggles with “remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope.”
According to the statement, Alexx remained hopeful throughout his illness and believed that “one day his testimony would be shared with the world.”
The family appealed for privacy and prayers during the difficult period, asking supporters and members of the public to remember the deceased and those grieving his loss.
“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss,” the statement read.
They added that details concerning funeral arrangements and other family matters would be communicated in due course.
The announcement has since sparked reactions across social media, with fans, colleagues and well-wishers expressing shock and mourning the reported loss of one of Nollywood’s prominent actors.
