The leader of the Cautal Hore Fulani association and President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, has reportedly been released from detention by operatives of the Department of State Services after spending several days in custody.
According to an undisclosed source, the release took place on Tuesday in Abuja after he was initially moved from Taraba State to Yola Airport before being flown to the Federal Capital Territory.
The development follows earlier reports that Bodejo was arrested in Jalingo shortly after declaring his intention to contest for the Taraba Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He was said to have arrived in Jalingo aboard a private jet and was received by supporters from across the senatorial district before meeting with political associates and visiting security agencies.
A close aide had alleged that the arrest occurred shortly after Bodejo addressed supporters at the APC state secretariat in Jalingo, claiming security operatives separated his entourage before taking him into custody.
The aide further alleged that the same operatives who escorted him from Abuja to Taraba were involved in the arrest, although these claims have not been independently verified.
Before his detention, Bodejo had insisted he would not withdraw from the senatorial race, saying he had already obtained his nomination form and remained committed to his ambition.
Meanwhile, Bodejo has previously faced multiple legal controversies, including allegations linked to the formation of an unauthorized vigilante group and terrorism-related charges filed by the Federal Government.
He was also previously detained over claims bordering on illegal militia activities, while recent reports have linked him to investigations involving allegations of terrorism financing and large-scale financial transactions, claims he has not publicly addressed in detail.
As of press time, neither the DSS nor other relevant authorities have issued an official statement confirming his reported release or the circumstances surrounding his detention.
