Major General Eyitayo Foluso Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), met with Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in Bauchi State Government House on March 4, 2026 to strengthen military‑government security cooperation amid rising insecurity.
The high‑level engagement underscores a joint commitment to confronting banditry and armed criminality that have destabilised communities in Alkaleri Local Government Area and other flashpoints, displacing residents and undermining law and order. Oyinlola conveyed appreciation from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for Governor Mohammed’s support and reaffirmed the Army’s resolve to protect lives, restore peace, and secure the state’s territorial integrity through both kinetic operations and community‑centric strategies.
Governor Mohammed, in response, lauded the proactive military intervention and pledged continued collaboration, including logistical backing and sociological engagement initiatives, to complement clearance efforts and address underlying security challenges. The visit also brought together senior commanders from the 33 Brigade, Air Force and police representatives to harmonise multi‑agency action plans, reflecting a holistic approach to stabilising Bauchi. This strategic partnership aims to transition volatile areas from crisis to stability and reinforce confidence among distressed communities.
