President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will not capitulate to insecurity or internal divisions, declaring that “Nigeria will never surrender” despite the mounting security challenges facing the nation.

In a national broadcast delivered on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the president sought to reassure citizens amid persistent threats including insurgency, banditry, separatist agitation and other forms of organised violence affecting different parts of the country.

Tinubu reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that unity and collective responsibility remain vital to overcoming the country’s security difficulties.

He urged security agencies, community leaders and citizens to strengthen cooperation in confronting criminal networks and other forces undermining peace and stability across the country.

The president also emphasised the need to reinforce national institutions and promote stronger cohesion among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic, religious and regional groups.

“We must remain united,” Tinubu said, noting that the nation’s stability depends on a shared determination to confront challenges rather than yielding to fear or division.

Political observers say the address appears aimed at reinforcing public confidence in the government’s security strategy while projecting a message of resilience to both domestic and international audiences.

The broadcast also comes at a time when political activity is gradually intensifying ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with analysts suggesting the administration is keen to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding constitutional order and the country’s territorial integrity.
