Nigeria Is Currently Better Off Than Many Years Ago — Tuface

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has said he believes Nigeria is in a better place today than it was many years ago, despite persistent political and social challenges.

The music icon made the remarks during a recent interview on Wazobia TV, where he reflected on the country’s progress and his long-standing commentary on national issues through music.

During the conversation, the programme host revisited one of 2Baba’s enduring songs, E Be Like Say, observing that the themes he explored years ago still resonate in today’s political climate. The host noted that Nigeria appears to be grappling with familiar challenges as another political season unfolds.

In response, 2Baba struck a note of cautious optimism, insisting that, while problems remain, the country has made meaningful progress over time. “We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” he said.

When asked whether he had any ambitions to venture into politics, the singer was measured in his response. He explained that although he had previously participated in advocacy efforts that required him to remain non-partisan, he intends to continue contributing to national development in his own way.

“It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it,” he said. “I will carve out my own space and try to make a difference. I will try to make it work because I know where I stand.”

Framing his role beyond formal politics, 2Baba described himself as a self-appointed representative of the country, committed to promoting Nigeria’s image wherever he goes.

“I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria an ambassador everywhere,” he said.
