The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed former Nigerian international Jonah Adamu as supervising head coach of its men’s and women’s volleyball teams ahead of the second phase of the 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League.

The Head of Sports of the NCS, Samuel Onikeku, announced the appointment on Wednesday, October 14, following the team’s friendly match against the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).

Onikeku also disclosed that All African Games gold medallist in indoor and beach volleyball, Priscilla Agera, had been appointed to supervise the women’s coaching team.

According to him, Adamu will oversee both teams, with primary responsibility for the men’s side during matches and the flexibility to take charge of the women’s team when necessary.

“Former Nigeria international, Jonah Adamu, has been appointed as the supervising coach of the men’s and women’s teams,” Onikeku said.

“He will handle the men’s team during matches and can be drafted to oversee the women’s team whenever the occasion arises, as he is supervising both teams.”

He explained that Agera would supervise the women’s coaching team, comprising Francisca Ikhiede, Bose Melaye and Tosin Bukky, who recently acquired the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Level I coaching certification.

The appointments are part of the NCS’s preparations for the second phase of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League, scheduled to begin on Friday, October 16.

Onikeku said the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, had invested significantly in the teams to strengthen their preparations and improve their competitiveness ahead of the league’s next phase.

The new coaching arrangements are expected to provide stronger technical leadership for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming fixtures.
