The Muslim Intellectuals Forum has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and vote for him in the 2027 presidential election, citing what the group described as improvements in security, infrastructure and development, particularly across Northern Nigeria.
The endorsement followed a national meeting of the forum held in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Saturday, August 22, 2026. More than 500 Muslim clerics, Imams, preachers and Qur’anic scholars from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory reportedly attended the meeting.
The resolution was read to journalists by Dr Muntaka Rabe Darma, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, who said participants acknowledged improvements in several areas under the Tinubu administration.
Darma specifically mentioned infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of the Kano-Kaduna highway, as one of the developments considered by the forum. He also cited what he described as improved security in parts of Kaduna, Katsina and Sokoto states, as well as generally improved security in the North-East.
However, the forum acknowledged that significant security challenges remain. It called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts in Niger and Zamfara states, where insecurity continues to affect communities.
“The forum therefore invited the general public to vote for the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 2027 election,” Darma said, according to the report of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Several political figures attended the meeting, including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala-Buni, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
The endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with Tinubu expected to face strong opposition from candidates and political alliances seeking to unseat the APC administration.
