The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced ₦7,882,822 as the final fare for residents intending to perform the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The amount represents a slight reduction from the ₦7.9 million fare announced for the previous pilgrimage.
The Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, attributed the reduction to efforts by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, to reduce the financial burden on Nigerian pilgrims and improve the organisation of the annual pilgrimage.
Ajomagberin said the reduction reflected the commitment of the NAHCON leadership to making Hajj more affordable and seamless for Nigerian pilgrims.
He urged all intending pilgrims to ensure that they pay the approved fare on or before September 26, 2026, the deadline stipulated by NAHCON.
According to him, early payment is important to enable the Board to secure the necessary travel documents within the timeframe required by Saudi Arabian authorities.
The Board Secretary also assured intending pilgrims that the Lagos State Government would continue to prioritise their welfare throughout the pilgrimage.
He said the state would provide standard accommodation, daily meals featuring local delicacies, comfortable transportation within Saudi Arabia and organised Ziyarah visits to historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.
Other provisions, he added, include adequate medical services, payment of Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) and support for the slaughtering of Hadayah rams, among other services.
The Lagos government said the arrangements were aimed at ensuring that pilgrims from the state have a comfortable and well-coordinated experience during the 2027 Hajj.
