The Ogun State Police Command has deployed its School Protection Squad across the state as schools resume academic activities.
The initiative is aimed at protecting pupils, teachers, school workers and educational facilities while strengthening early detection and response to security threats.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the squad would gather actionable intelligence around schools and respond promptly to emerging threats.
She said schools that have resumed have already been covered, while those reopening later would also be included in the security arrangement.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni also directed personnel to maintain regular engagement with school communities and act swiftly on credible intelligence.
The Command said it was working with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Club, school authorities, parents and communities to improve security around educational institutions.
Police urged residents to report suspicious persons, vehicles or activities around schools, stressing that timely information could help prevent attacks.
The Command provided the Gateway Shield Emergency Line: 08000009111 for school-related emergencies.
