Nigerian actor, Austine Emmanuel has lambasted Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, warning that political influence and popularity cannot be purchased.
Speaking on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Emmanuel argued that true leadership and public respect come from merit and personal achievement, not wealth or family legacy.
He said: “If your father did well, you don’t need to buy people with money. Respect is earned through competence, not inherited wealth.” Emmanuel’s comments come amid increasing public debate over dynastic politics in Nigeria, where children of prominent leaders are often perceived to enjoy undue advantages in political and social arenas.
Observers note that this critique taps into wider frustration with nepotism and the commercialization of influence in Nigerian politics, echoing concerns that leadership positions are sometimes secured through financial leverage rather than service to the people.
The remarks have since gone viral on social media, sparking discussions on ethics, political inheritance, and the role of meritocracy in shaping Nigeria’s future leadership landscape.
