The Ondo State Police Command has made significant strides in its fight against kidnapping, successfully arresting five suspects linked to a syndicate involved in the abduction of schoolchildren in Ore and its surrounding areas.
This breakthrough follows a distressing incident reported on 12th May 2026, when Andrew Yohana of the Jerry Sawmill Area in Ore alerted authorities that his two sons—10-year-old Jehu and 5-year-old Yohana—had been kidnapped while on their way to school by unidentified individuals.
Upon receiving the report, detectives swiftly initiated an investigation, visiting the scene and launching intelligence-driven operations. Through meticulous tracking analysis and coordinated efforts, police were able to identify and apprehend Taofeek Lukman, 23, and Blessing Saturday, 27, in the Alaba Area of Ore. During the operation, officers recovered ₦251,000, believed to be ransom proceeds taken from the victims’ family before their release. Additionally, an unregistered motorcycle, suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime, was seized.
Further investigations led to the identification of additional suspects connected to the syndicate, including Peter Moses, 25, Sunday Isaac, 23, and Sanusi Dan Asabe, 37. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal group and recover further evidence related to the case.
Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu commended the operatives for their professionalism and intelligence-led approach, which contributed to this successful operation. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes throughout Ondo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, issued the statement regarding the arrests on 28th May 2026, emphasising the dedication of the police to ensuring the safety and security of residents while warning criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face the full consequences of the law.
