Nigerian Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and other senators at the ninth assembly have appealed for unity, compassion, and collective prayers for peace amid rising national and global tensions ahead of Eid-el-Fitri
In separate Eid messages issued on 19 March 2026, the lawmakers emphasised the importance of religious harmony and national cohesion as Muslims around the country mark the end of Ramadan. Akpabio called on Nigerians to “reflect deeply on the values of empathy and brotherhood,” urging citizens to look past divisions and work toward common goals. Bamidele echoed this sentiment, stressing that “peace and unity are foundational to Nigeria’s progress.”
Their messages came at a time of heightened security concerns and economic pressures, with lawmakers noting that Eid offers a moment for Nigerians of all faiths to recommit to mutual respect and support for one another. The Senate leaders also prayed for the well‑being of those facing hardship, including victims of insecurity and displaced families across several states.
