National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly correct the omission of some of the party’s candidates from its published list ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson said the party had taken steps to address the issue and assured affected candidates and supporters that efforts were underway to resolve the matter.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Thursday night, the former Bayelsa State governor maintained that all affected candidates registered with the party before the statutory 21-day deadline.
“Our candidates and supporters are assured that the party has been working diligently and has taken adequate steps to address the cases of those whose names were not published by INEC a few days ago,” he said.
Dickson urged the electoral commission to review the situation and correct what he described as an apparent omission.
He said the NDC had fielded candidates for elections ranging from the presidency to the state houses of assembly, adding that they had emerged through what he described as a rigorous screening process.
The senator representing Bayelsa West also called on party members and candidates to sustain their political activities while efforts to resolve the issue continued.
“In the meantime, consultations, town hall meetings, mobilisation, and campaigns should continue unabated in all states and constituencies,” he said.
Dickson reaffirmed the party’s determination to pursue the matter, declaring that it would continue its efforts until the issue was resolved.
