Portugal football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, Georgina Rodriguez, in a private civil ceremony in Portugal.
The 41-year-old football superstar and Rodriguez, who have been together since 2016, confirmed their marriage by sharing a photograph on Instagram showing off their wedding rings.
The ceremony was held in Cascais, a coastal resort town about 20 miles west of Lisbon, and was attended by the couple’s five children.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez began their relationship nearly a decade ago after meeting in Madrid. Since then, the couple have regularly shared moments from their family life with millions of followers on social media.
The wedding marks a new chapter in a relationship that has grown alongside one of the most decorated careers in football.
Ronaldo has played for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al Nassr, while also becoming one of Portugal’s most celebrated players. He has scored nearly 1,000 goals across his career.
The marriage comes just four days before Al Nassr begin their 2026/27 Saudi Pro League campaign, adding another major moment to an eventful period for the Portuguese forward.
Ronaldo also recently made his sixth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, matching Lionel Messi’s record for appearances at the men’s tournament.
The 2026 tournament was Ronaldo’s final World Cup appearance, although he has not yet confirmed whether he will retire from international football.
Reflecting on his World Cup exit, Ronaldo said he would take time to consider his future rather than make an immediate decision.
“I’m sad to be leaving the World Cup like this. I gave it my all. I did my best. It was my last World Cup, yes, but I’ll now have time to reflect and be with my family. I won’t be making any rash decisions.”
He added that his future with Portugal was not something he wanted to decide in the heat of the moment.
“I don’t decide anything in the heat of the moment. Now is not important whether I will continue.”
Ronaldo also reflected on his long international career, during which he helped Portugal win major titles.
“I played 23 years in the national team and won three titles. Before Cristiano, Portugal had not won anything.”
For now, however, the spotlight is firmly on Ronaldo and Rodriguez as they begin married life after nearly a decade together.
