Chiwetalu Agu: Man Can Sleep With 40 Women and Still Find Wife, Woman May Be Rejected

Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has spoken about the different social consequences men and women may face over their sexual history.

Agu made the remarks in a video shared on X on September 27, 2026, while advising people to consider the consequences of their choices before taking action.

Using relationships as an example, the actor said men who have had multiple sexual partners may still find women willing to settle down with them, while women with fewer previous partners could face rejection because of their past.

“A man can sleep with 30 to 40 women and still end up marrying a woman who is ready to settle down with him. But a woman can sleep with 7 to 10 men and end up being rejected simply because of her past,” Agu said.

He argued that people do not necessarily face the same social consequences for similar behaviour, noting that circumstances and available resources can influence how individuals deal with the aftermath of their decisions.

Agu also used drug use to illustrate his point, saying people from different social and economic backgrounds may have very different options when things go wrong.

“Don’t assume that because someone is doing something, that you will both suffer the consequences equally. We are all humans, but some humans have more to lose than the others,” he said.

The veteran actor urged people to think beyond the immediate consequences of their actions.

“Always learn to look before you leap. Before you act, think about the consequences of your action. Think beyond the moment,” he advised.

Agu concluded with a message about personal responsibility, saying: “Wisdom is not knowing what you can do, it is knowing what you cannot afford to do.”
