The White House was temporarily placed on lockdown after multiple gunshots were reportedly fired near the premises, forcing journalists and security personnel to take cover during the tense incident.
The shooting occurred on Saturday afternoon in Washington while United States President Donald Trump and senior officials were reportedly inside the White House monitoring developments surrounding the Iran situation.
According to reports, several loud gunshots rang out near the White House complex, triggering an immediate response from the Secret Service, which quickly secured the area and restricted movement around the building.
Videos circulating online captured the dramatic moment journalists on the White House North Lawn ducked for safety as the sounds of gunfire echoed nearby during live television broadcasts.
The lockdown was later lifted after security operatives gained control of the situation.
Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kash Patel, confirmed that FBI agents were on the ground assisting the Secret Service with investigations into the incident.
He stated that further updates would be provided as authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
