LAFIA — October 11, 2026. Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State sustained injuries on Saturday after two vehicles conveying party members collided in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while they were travelling to attend the party’s North-Central mega rally.

The accident occurred along the Government House route, a few kilometres from the rally venue. The injured supporters were reportedly taken to hospitals in Lafia for medical attention.

Dan-Morgan Ihomun, Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada faction of the APC in Benue State, confirmed the incident, stating that the collision involved two vehicles and that no lives were lost.

“The accident happened in Lafia and it involved two vehicles. But there was no loss of life. Those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital,” Ihomun said.

The exact number of injured supporters had not been confirmed as of the time of reporting. The circumstances surrounding the collision were also not immediately clear.

The incident has revived concerns over road safety for political supporters travelling long distances to attend party events.

In a similar incident on March 25, 2026, three APC delegates from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State died, while about 10 others sustained injuries in a road accident while travelling from Makurdi to Lafia for the party’s North-Central zonal congress.

Authorities had not announced further details about the latest collision at the time of publication.
