Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Deji of Akureland, senators and other prominent personalities are expected to attend the 50th anniversary of Omoluorogbo Grammar School, Akure, as the institution prepares to celebrate five decades of educational service.

The three-day celebration will feature the commissioning of a new administrative block and the foundation-laying ceremony for a four-classroom block to be constructed by the school’s Old Students’ Association.

The anniversary, tagged “Omoluorogbo Grammar School, Akure @ 50: 1976–2026,” has the theme “Celebrating Our Legacy, Shaping the Future,” and the motto “Five Decades of Excellence and Impact.”

Chairman of the OGSA 50th Anniversary Implementation and Planning Committee, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, said the celebration would recognise the school’s achievements over the past five decades while mobilising support for its future development.

Akinmade described the proposed ₦100 million Golden Jubilee Legacy Project as a major part of the celebration and appealed to alumni, government institutions, corporate organisations, philanthropists, community leaders and friends of the school to support the initiative.

Activities will begin on Thursday, October 29, with an interdenominational thanksgiving service and a history and heritage session highlighting the school’s journey and achievements.

Friday’s programme will feature an alumni reunion, career mentorship and the school’s inter-house sports competition.

The grand finale on Saturday will include goodwill messages, an anniversary lecture, cultural presentations, recognition of distinguished alumni and contributors, and the launch of the legacy project.

The anniversary lecture will be delivered by Dr Alaba Mogaji, a senior lecturer at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, and an alumnus of the school. His lecture is expected to examine the institution’s future and the challenges facing education.

The planning committee said the event would bring together alumni, government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, educationists, parents, students and other stakeholders to celebrate the school’s heritage and renew their commitment to its future.
