Police in Nigeria’s Bauchi State say they have arrested a man suspected of being the principal suspect in the murder of 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda in Karofin Madaki.

According to the police, Mr Dauda was attacked and stabbed with a knife on 5 July 2026. He was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police said the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, was arrested on 5 October, exactly three months after the incident.

The arrest followed what the police described as credible intelligence provided by a member of the public. Officers from the A Division in Township subsequently carried out an operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.

Police said they are still searching for other suspects believed to have been involved in the killing, who remain at large.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers involved in the operation and ordered a thorough investigation into the case.

He also directed that the suspect be prosecuted once investigations are completed.

The suspect remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court.
