Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has sparked discussion about relationships after sharing how she would respond if she found another man more attractive while already in a serious relationship.
The singer made the comments on her “Ask Ayra Starr” show while responding to a woman seeking advice about attraction to another person while in a relationship.
Ayra Starr said that if she were in a serious relationship and became attracted to another man, she would choose to end her existing relationship rather than maintain relationships with both men.
She explained that she would prefer to be honest about changing feelings instead of attempting to manage two romantic relationships at the same time. She also suggested that someone facing such a situation should take time away from relationships to understand their feelings.
The singer further addressed the importance of maintaining friendships while in a romantic relationship. She advised people not to abandon their friends simply because they have found a partner, stressing the need for balance between romantic relationships and friendships.
Her latest comments differ slightly from remarks she made earlier in April 2026, when she said physical appearance was not the main factor determining the kind of man she would choose. At the time, she said a person could be physically attractive but lack qualities she valued.
The latest comments have generated reactions online, with discussions focusing on whether physical attraction to another person should be enough to reconsider a serious relationship.
Ayra Starr, who rose to prominence under Mavin Records, has frequently drawn inspiration from relationships, love and personal experiences in her music.
Her comments, however, were presented as her personal view on handling attraction and commitment, rather than a disclosure about her current relationship status.
