Former Vice President and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has extended heartfelt congratulations to ex‑President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 89th birthday. The message was delivered via Abubakar’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on March 5, 2026, as Obasanjo marked his birthday in Abeokuta, Ogun State with a series of celebratory events and reflections on leadership.
In his goodwill message, Abubakar hailed Obasanjo as a life defined by service, courage and an enduring commitment to the Nigerian project, emphasising the former leader’s contributions to national unity and progress. He described Obasanjo’s journey as “remarkable” and underscored the statesman’s significant role in fostering cohesion and development in Nigeria.
Abubakar prayed that God would continue to bless Obasanjo with good health, strength and many more years of impactful service to the nation and humanity, highlighting the elder statesman’s ongoing influence beyond public office. He also extended warm felicitations on behalf of his family, calling Obasanjo a leader whose life “reflects the strength and beauty of Nigeria’s diversity.”
