Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a 50-year-old woman over allegations of supplying food items and other materials to her son, who is suspected to be a member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The suspect was reportedly intercepted at a military checkpoint in Kukawa, Borno State, during a routine security operation in the area.
According to security sources, soldiers recovered food supplements, two hijabs, and a wristwatch from the woman at the time of her arrest.
Military authorities believe the items were intended for delivery to the suspect’s son, said to be operating with the terrorist group in parts of the North-East.
The woman is currently under investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle logistics and support networks linked to insurgent groups operating in the region.
Security operations against ISWAP and other armed groups have continued across Borno and neighbouring states amid renewed efforts to restore stability in the North-East.
