33-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Writing FCT Promotion Exam for Father

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father and writing a promotion examination on his behalf at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) examination centre in Abuja.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during the third day of the 2026 promotion examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission for workers in the Federal Capital Territory. Security personnel deployed to monitor the exercise apprehended Musa during the examination.

Musa’s father, Musa Mohammed, is an employee of the FCT Fire Service. During questioning, the younger Musa reportedly admitted that he was not the registered candidate and said his father had asked him to sit for the examination because of his health condition.

Both men were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The case has raised questions about examination impersonation and the security measures being used to prevent malpractice during the FCT promotion exercise.

The investigation is ongoing.
