The political landscape in Nasarawa State has taken a new turn as reports confirm that the Accountant General of the state, Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed (Baraden Nasarawa), has resigned from his position to contest for the governorship in the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed made his intention known during a large political gathering held in Lafia, the state capital, where he addressed supporters and stakeholders under the platform of the Fatan Alheri Movement. The event attracted prominent personalities, including the Chairman of the State Football Association, Alhaji Salisu Galadima.

According to reports, the former Accountant General’s decision followed sustained calls from different groups and individuals across the state urging him to join the governorship race.

His resignation comes after a period of political activities within the state, including consultations and meetings involving key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Abdullahi Sule recently held a meeting in Abuja with aspirants and party stakeholders, which was attended by notable figures such as former Governors Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, as well as former Deputy Governor Silas Ali Agara.

Mohammed, a former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, is expected to formally engage in political consultations and mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.

More details are expected to emerge as the political season gradually builds momentum in Nasarawa State.
