Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has officially abandoned the Muslim-Muslim governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 governorship election, naming Jerry Adams, Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), as his running mate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, through a statement posted on the governor’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Adams, a Christian from Southern Kaduna, replaces the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who, having served two consecutive terms, is constitutionally ineligible to seek another term. Governor Sani described the decision as a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to inclusion, fairness, justice and equitable representation, stressing that Kaduna’s diversity should be reflected in its leadership.
The decision effectively returns the APC in Kaduna to a Muslim-Christian ticket, ending the Muslim-Muslim arrangement that had generated political and religious debate during the 2023 election. Political analysts say the move is expected to strengthen the party’s appeal across the state’s religious and ethnic divides ahead of the 2027 polls.
Governor Sani urged party members and supporters to unite behind the new ticket, expressing confidence that the APC would build on its achievements in governance and secure another electoral victory in 2027.
