Popular social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has launched a fresh criticism against President Bola Tinubu, accusing the President of failure and alleging that governors are being bribed with huge sums of money to support his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a video circulating online, VDM declared that Nigerians should reject Tinubu’s return for another term in office, insisting that the President has failed to improve the lives of citizens since assuming office.
“This is the time we should all say no, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot come back because he can’t and he shouldn’t be allowed to come back. He does not have a plan, he is a failure and he will continue to fail,” he said.
The activist accused the administration of worsening poverty and failing to deliver meaningful economic progress.
“If he had reduced the rate of poverty even by 20 percent, we can say okay, but instead he increased the rate of poverty to hundred. So which future do you want to give us?” he asked.
VDM further alleged that the President was spending heavily on political campaigns and offering governors as much as N250 billion to align with him politically.
“That is why you go around paying governors N250 billion to join you. That is why you have been spending money on campaigns because you didn’t do well. If you did well, you wouldn’t have to pay money for campaigns,” he alleged.
He also criticised supporters who engage in online political debates without participating in the electoral process, urging Nigerians to obtain their voter cards and actively participate in elections.
“And for people who are going online commenting, most of you don’t even have a voter card, you are just making noise online. To effectively make change you must vote,” he stated.
VDM said he planned to mobilise voters ahead of future elections, adding that he would organise people in groups and provide support for them during the voting process.
“I know most of you will say they will rig, but if we make it massive, it will be very difficult for them to rig. I will organise people into 50 per group and I will alert Ratels to escort them if we have to and provide them with water,” he said.
While insisting that he would not tell Nigerians who to vote for, the activist maintained that he would continue to campaign against Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“I cannot tell you who to vote for but I can create awareness on why Tinubu should not be voted for because he has totally failed,” he added.
VDM also referenced previous comments allegedly made by Tinubu regarding electricity supply, arguing that the President had not fulfilled his promises to Nigerians.
“Tinubu said if he cannot provide electricity for Nigerians they should not vote for him and he has totally failed. The economy has crashed and insecurity is worse,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the Presidency regarding the allegations and comments made in the viral video.
