Evangelist Ebuka Obi has sparked conversations on marriage, attraction and emotional discipline after making a remark about the possibility of a married man developing feelings or experiencing physical attraction towards another woman.
Speaking on relationships, Obi argued that loving one’s wife does not necessarily eliminate the possibility of being attracted to other women.
According to him, a man may genuinely love his wife and still find another woman physically attractive, stressing that such feelings can occur even when the other woman may not necessarily be “better” than the man’s wife.
“As a man, no matter how much you love your wife, you can still have feelings or an erection for another woman. Sometimes, it could be someone your wife is sweeter than,” he said.
The cleric’s comment appears to draw a distinction between experiencing attraction and acting on such attraction within a marriage.
His statement has since generated discussions about whether physical attraction outside marriage should be regarded as a normal human experience or as a potential threat to marital commitment.
While attraction to other people can occur in relationships, many argue that what ultimately matters is how an individual responds to such feelings and whether they choose to respect the boundaries and commitments of their marriage.
Obi’s remarks have therefore renewed conversations about fidelity, self-control and the realities couples may face in marriage, particularly in an era where people are constantly exposed to different forms of social interaction.
