A 35-year-old, woman, Mrs Veronica Adejo, yesterday escaped death by the whisker along Oba-Ile road in Akure North Local government area of Ondo State.

The Hope Metro gathered that the woman was walking by the roadside close to the barricade across the double lane along Airport /Oba-ile road, when a trailer suddenly pulled off and rammed into the barricade.

The barricade reportedly fell on a taxi cab parked at the other side of the road and the woman.

According to commuters, the barricade was erected to stop heavy duty trucks from plying the Oba-Ile/Airport road to prevent road accidents in the community.

It was also gathered that the barricade has been misleading motorists on the road because of diversion .

According to an eyewitness, the trailer drove on high speed, and rammed into the barricade.

But he said he did not see the barricade ahead of him as he was making a call at the time it happened.
