A petrol-laden tanker has overturned on the Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Western Bypass in Minna, Niger State, on Saturday, spilling fuel across the roadway.
The incident occurred near Mandela Junction, beside the National Examinations Council office, a location close to the Niger State House of Assembly and the state secretariat, Starnews NG can report.
According to a report by SaharaReporters, the tanker, which was carrying premium motor spirit (PMS), caught fire shortly after the driver drove it out of the NNPC Mega Station.
Both federal and state firefighters have vacated the scene of the incident as they complain of a lack of adequate water and chemicals, saying, “the situation is getting intense.”
The driver sustained partial injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
