The personal assistant to late gospel singer Toluwanisings, Babadunni Gbolabo, has recounted the desperate efforts to obtain medical attention for the singer after he suddenly collapsed in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday, Gbolabo alleged that the singer was taken to between seven and eight hospitals, but the attempts to secure treatment were unsuccessful.
According to the aide, some hospitals reportedly cited a doctors’ strike or the unavailability of medical personnel, while others allegedly declined to admit the singer.
Gbolabo said he was not present when the singer collapsed but rushed to the scene after receiving an urgent call. He described Toluwanisings as appearing healthy before the incident.
“We rushed him to UCH first, but they were on strike. We had to start moving from one hospital to another,” he recounted, according to QED.NG.
He said those around the singer attempted to revive him and did everything they could to save his life.
The account has raised fresh concerns about emergency medical access and the difficulties families may face when seeking urgent treatment. However, the allegations concerning individual hospitals have not been independently verified, and the facilities involved have not been identified in the reports reviewed.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. He had reportedly performed at a worship event hosted by gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan the previous evening.
His family has confirmed his death and said further information about funeral arrangements would be communicated later.
