Fresh controversy has erupted online after a national identity card allegedly belonging to Mahmud Sadis Buba surfaced on social media with conflicting age details, sparking heated debate among Nigerians.
The document, which has now gone viral across several social media platforms, reportedly shows the Kaduna-based politician as being 15 years old, contradicting widespread reports and another identity record believed to list his age as 30.
The development has triggered intense reactions online, with Nigerians divided over the authenticity of the identity cards circulating on the internet.
While some social media users claimed the document showing Buba as 30 years old reflects his actual age, others insisted the version carrying 15 years is the genuine one allegedly leaked by his brother following a family misunderstanding.
Supporters of the APC aspirant, however, argued that the newly circulated identity card may have been manipulated in a deliberate attempt to tarnish his rising political profile ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The controversy comes just days after Buba attracted national attention following his screening as an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress for the House of Representatives seat representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.
Popularly known as “Al-ajabin Zazzau” and “Abin Al-Aljabin Zazzau,” Buba, who is of short stature, became a trending topic after videos and photos from his screening exercise flooded social media.
Despite conversations surrounding his appearance, the politician has maintained that his ambition is driven by the demands of his constituents who, according to him, appreciate his grassroots mobilization and community engagement.
Buba, who also serves as chairman of the Tinubu—Uba Sani Agenda ’27 support group, has repeatedly insisted that physical appearance should never define leadership capacity.
“My stature does not stop me from serving my people effectively,” he reportedly told supporters.
His political ambition has continued to generate mixed reactions, with many Nigerians applauding his confidence and determination, while others questioned his eligibility and political experience.
Supporters, however, believe his candidacy represents a growing shift toward judging leaders based on competence rather than physical appearance.
If elected in 2027, Buba could become one of the youngest and shortest-serving lawmakers in the history of Nigeria’s House of Representatives.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Buba nor officials of the National Identity Management Commission had issued an official statement regarding the viral age controversy.
