Omoyele Sowore has released a video he said shows the faces of individuals allegedly involved in the assault on him, African Action Congress (AAC) members and members of his team in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Sowore said the incident occurred on 30 October 2026 during an armed attack in which one of his team members was assaulted.
In a statement posted on Facebook overnight, he alleged that CCTV footage from Tawakalitu Restaurant, where the incident occurred, had been erased after police officers and operatives of the Department of State Services reportedly took possession of the equipment to the Government House.
According to him, the equipment was returned to the restaurant on Monday evening without any recordings.
Sowore also said he contacted the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade; the Divisional Police Officer of the Ado-Ekiti Central Police Station, Mustapha Mohammed; and the commander of the state’s Rapid Response Squad to demand an update on the investigation.
He alleged that the officers claimed there was no complainant because he had not submitted a written statement.
Sowore, however, said the police had rescued the victims, taken them to hospital, arrested suspects and recovered weapons, stolen phones and other devices.
He further alleged that the officers denied knowledge of phones reportedly traced electronically to the Governor’s Lodge, as well as the missing CCTV recordings, before ending the conversation.
Sowore called for an independent investigation into the incident and demanded the removal of the state Commissioner of Police and other officers he accused of covering up the case.
The video released by Sowore is expected to form part of the evidence in efforts to identify those allegedly involved in the attack.
