Hamidat Boluwatife Adegunle, a 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has emerged as the winner of the Most Beautiful Girl in Lagos (MBGL). She won the competition at the grand finale, which took place on Saturday, 14th September, at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The final stage of the competition featured 14 contestants, each representing different local government areas in Lagos State. The contestants went through five stages before Hamidat was declared the winner.

In an interview with *Star News*, Hamidat opened up about the financial challenges she faced during the competition, which almost led her to quit. “I had no sponsors and had to finance myself. At a point, it got too draining, and I wanted to quit,” she revealed.

Despite the struggles, her determination to showcase her true self kept her going. “I want the world to see me, to see the real me, to see what’s inside. Because people just see the physical appearance and assume what they want to assume,” she explained.

After winning the crown, Hamidat expressed that the victory brought a mix of pride, joy, and responsibility. She viewed it as validation of her efforts and personal qualities. “It feels like hard work pays off, but it also comes with the responsibility of the platform and the opportunities ahead,” she added.

Hamidat plans to use her new title to advocate for people with disabilities and promote women’s health. “My dream is to create a platform where people with disabilities feel heard, seen, and valued, and where women feel safe to share their stories and seek support without fear of judgment or stigma.”

As part of her rewards, Hamidat received an all-expenses-paid trip, a wellness package worth five hundred thousand naira, and other gifts from sponsors.
