The National Association of Life Science Students (NALSS), University of Benin (UNIBEN), has hailed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s appointment of Hon. Bidemi Joshua Obayangban as his Senior Special Assistant on Forestry.
This was contained in a statement signed by the association’s Secretary-General, Comr. Paul Samuel Olamilekan Ojogbe, and its Governor, Comr. Olubode Victor, and addressed to the Ondo State Governor.
The students described the appointment as a commendable demonstration of merit-based governance, citing Obayangban’s academic background in Environmental Sciences.
According to the association, Obayangban’s training aligns directly with the responsibilities attached to his new role, particularly the management and protection of environmental resources.
“As a graduate of our Environmental Sciences programme, his academic foundation directly aligns with this vital role,” the association said.
NALSS said the appointment had brought pride to the Faculty of Life Sciences and would serve as an encouragement to students pursuing careers in environmental and related fields.
The association added that appointing a trained professional to oversee an area as important as forestry demonstrated what it described as the governor’s commitment to sustainable governance.
“By placing a trained expert in charge of environmental resources, Your Excellency has demonstrated a commendable commitment to merit-driven, sustainable governance,” the students said.
The students also expressed confidence in Obayangban’s ability to discharge his responsibilities effectively, describing him as capable of serving the Ondo State Government and its people with integrity and dedication.
“We have absolute confidence that he will serve your administration and the good people of Ondo State with the utmost integrity and dedication,” the letter stated.
The association further expressed appreciation to Aiyedatiwa for recognising one of its distinguished alumni, saying the appointment had brought “immense pride” to the Faculty of Life Sciences.
The students prayed for continued wisdom and vision for the governor in his administration of Ondo State, while wishing the government greater success.
