Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of undermining diplomacy following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes that targeted Tehran and other Iranian cities.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Araghchi stated that Trump “bombed the negotiation table out of spite,” asserting that the U.S. president had abandoned diplomatic efforts during critical nuclear negotiations.
He criticized the negotiation tactics, suggesting that intricate nuclear discussions were treated like a real estate transaction. He attributed the failure of the talks to unrealistic expectations and misinformation.
These comments came after coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes that reportedly resulted in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, along with some of his family members, high-ranking military officials, and civilians.
In retaliation, Iran conducted multiple missile and drone strikes aimed at Israel and U.S. interests in the region, heightening concerns of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
This escalation followed three rounds of indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, with a fourth round already planned before the strikes occurred.
Tensions remain elevated as global leaders urge restraint to avoid further escalation.
