Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have neutralised suspected terrorists during a clearance operation in the Adankolo Forest Reserve in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The operation was carried out on May 10, 2026, as part of ongoing military offensives targeting criminal and terrorist hideouts across the North-Central region.
Military sources disclosed that several terrorists were killed during the encounter, while others reportedly fled into surrounding areas with gunshot injuries.
According to the Army, troops recovered assorted weapons, ammunition, communication devices, and other operational items from the forest camp after overpowering the armed group.
Security authorities said the operation followed intelligence reports indicating that the forest reserve had been used as a base for criminal activities, including attacks on commuters and nearby communities.
The Nigerian Army stated that troops would continue aggressive clearance operations aimed at denying terrorists and armed groups freedom of movement within the region.
