President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Saturday night following his state visit to the Republic of Turkey. He landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 8:55 PM local time.
As is customary, senior government officials welcomed President Tinubu upon his arrival in Abuja.
The visit included high-level discussions on diplomacy, economics, and security, resulting in the signing of several bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing the relationship between Nigeria and Turkey, including a renewed effort to achieve a $5 billion trade volume.
It is worth noting that the President left Abuja on Monday, January 26, for this state visit, which was initiated by an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The talks focused on various areas, including trade, investment, security, energy, education, and defense cooperation.
During the visit, Nigeria and Turkey agreed to form a Joint Economy and Trade Committee to promote trade relations and facilitate Turkish investments in Nigeria, reaffirming their commitment to reaching the $5 billion trade goal.
At a joint press conference in Ankara, President Erdoğan commended President Tinubu’s commitment to attracting foreign investment, highlighting the presence of several Nigerian ministers and senior officials as a sign of Nigeria’s dedication to strengthening economic ties.
