President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian-born players who contributed to the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised these athletes for bringing honor to Nigeria and showcasing the country’s talent on an international platform.
The Seahawks’ win marked the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy, with Tinubu highlighting several players of Nigerian descent who played key roles in the team’s championship lineup.
The players mentioned include quarterback Jalen Oluwaseun Milroe, standout defensive player Nick Emmanwori, veteran linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, linebacker Boye Maye, and offensive lineman Olu Oluwatimi.
Tinubu also congratulated Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, recognizing him as one of the league’s top offensive linemen.
The President specifically praised Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye for their display of patriotism, noting that they raised Nigeria’s flag following the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory.
According to Tinubu, the accomplishments of these players reinforce the global perception of Nigerians as individuals known for their excellence, resilience, and talent across various fields.
He wished them ongoing success and further achievements in their careers.
