Tinubu congratulates Jonathan on winning 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to former President Goodluck Jonathan for being honored with the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Jonathan for his unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and democracy, which has earned him international recognition.

He noted that the award reflects Jonathan’s dedication to peacebuilding efforts across Africa and beyond.

Tinubu also recalled the former president’s historic decision to accept the results of the 2015 presidential election and peacefully transfer power to the opposition, a move that strengthened Nigeria’s democratic reputation.

The president praised Jonathan’s latest achievement and expressed appreciation to the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee for recognizing individuals who contribute to global peace and development.
