President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of appointments into key federal agencies, naming former lawmaker Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the new Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).
The appointments were announced on Friday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Namdas replaces Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned from the position to pursue his governorship ambition in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
George, who was considered an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, eventually lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket to Kingsley Ogundu Chinda.
Before his latest appointment, Namdas represented his constituency in the 9th House of Representatives. He had also withdrawn from the race for Speaker of the House in support of Femi Gbajabiamila, who now serves as President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff.
The President also appointed former Edo State lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), replacing Matthew Ogbeide-Ihama.
In addition, Chukwuma Umeoji was reappointed as Executive Director, Corporate Services, of the NDPHC.
The latest appointments form part of the Tinubu administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and improve the performance of strategic government agencies through renewed management appointments.
