Terrorists have invaded Igbesi, a community within Oke Onigbin town in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting the Oba Onigbesi of Igbesi Land and several other residents.
Sources familiar with the incident reported that the attack occurred on Saturday when armed terrorists stormed the community and launched a fierce assault on the residents. The monarch, identified as the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, was among those taken away.
The terrorists reportedly whisked the monarch to an unknown location after gaining access to the community.
“Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi Land has been kidnapped by armed bandits and whisked away to an unknown bush,” one source stated.
Another source confirmed the timeline of the attack: “Bandits stormed the community yesterday (Saturday) in a fierce attack and successfully laid hands on the monarch.”
This incident has heightened concerns regarding the deteriorating security situation in Kwara South, where communities have increasingly faced attacks from armed terrorists and kidnappers. The exact number of victims and potential contact from the kidnappers remain unknown.
This follows a recent report of suspected bandits kidnapping the wife of the Baale of Dabu community in Ifelodun Local Government Area on Friday night, August 21, 2026.
Residents are expressing growing fear as these attacks continue. In a separate ongoing case, bandits have reportedly been using the TikTok account of 23-year-old Babatunde Fasilat, who was kidnapped on July 26, 2026, in Wande community, to communicate with the public.
Regarding that abduction, sources noted the violence involved: “Her father was shot and the bullet penetrated the other side of his body. The bandits were four. While her father was trying to defend himself, they went to her room and kidnapped her.”
The abductors have reportedly demanded a ₦20 million ransom for Fasilat’s release.
