Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly stormed a primary and junior secondary school in Mussa village, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of pupils in a dawn attack that has thrown the community into panic.
Residents said the attackers arrived on motorcycles on Friday, shortly after troops on patrol reportedly left the area, creating a window that was allegedly exploited for the assault.
A community source confirmed that several schoolchildren were taken during the raid, though the exact number of abducted pupils remains unknown as of press time.
The Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed the incident but noted that details were still being verified.
He said many students fled into surrounding bushes during the invasion, while authorities continue efforts to determine the scale of the abduction.
Askira described the attack as deeply troubling, suggesting the assailants may have monitored security movements before striking.
Meanwhile, residents and social media users have called for urgent prayers and intervention as anxiety spreads across the affected community.
Police authorities in Borno State had not issued an official statement at the time of filing this report.
