Step Down If You Are Not Working for Tinubu, Adeyanju Tells Obi, Kwankwaso

Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has challenged Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race if they want to disprove allegations that they are working in the interest of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

Adeyanju made the remark in a post on his X account, reiterating his allegation that the two opposition politicians were working for Tinubu, as he claimed they did during the 2023 general election.

“If Obi and Kwankwaso step down from the race, I will believe they are no longer working for President Tinubu like they did in 2023,” he wrote.

Adeyanju has also argued that votes for Obi and Kwankwaso would benefit Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging Nigerians not to support their joint political ambition.

However, the allegation remains Adeyanju’s claim and has not been established by the statement itself.

Kwankwaso has pushed back against the narrative, maintaining that Obi poses a significant political challenge to Tinubu ahead of the next election. He has pointed to Obi’s popularity in southern Nigeria and efforts to mobilise support for him in the North.

The exchange comes amid growing disagreements among opposition figures over strategy, alliances and the challenge of presenting a united front against the ruling APC in 2027.
