African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has offered to assist embattled TikTok personality and disc jockey, Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, following his arraignment over alleged threats against Seyi Tinubu.
Sowore, in a post on his verified X account on Monday, said he was prepared to provide support for the social media personality and help challenge the criminal charges filed against him.
He appealed to anyone with contact details of DJ Chicken’s relatives to reach out, saying he wanted to facilitate legal assistance for the entertainer.
According to him, the content creator should not be deprived of his freedom while standing trial, insisting that every citizen is entitled to liberty under the law.
Sowore also criticised what he described as the criminalisation of young Nigerians, arguing that they deserve opportunities, mentorship and justice rather than prosecution and imprisonment.
DJ Chicken was recently arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a three-count charge bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct capable of causing a breach of public peace and offences under the Cybercrimes Act.
The charges followed a viral video in which he allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.
The TikTok personality later retracted the statement, describing it as a joke intended to attract attention and maintaining that he had no intention of carrying out the threat.
He pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The trial court admitted him to bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like amount but ordered that he remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
The matter has been adjourned until August 3 for further hearing.
