African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has identified the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation as the three institutions he believes are most responsible for corruption in Nigeria.
Sowore made the claim during an interview with media personality Lucky Udu, where he alleged that the offices facilitate corrupt practices, including multiple payments for the same government contracts.
According to him, if elected president in the next general election, his administration would deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) to eliminate waste and tackle corruption across government institutions.
“If someone is trying to pay one contractor three times, the AI will detect it,” he said.
“At the end, you would have eliminated the Ministry of Finance, the Auditor-General’s Office and that of the Accountant-General because those are the three offices in Nigeria that are largely responsible for corruption.”
Sowore said his proposed administration would be driven by technology and anchored on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“The presidency of Sowore is going to be about technology. It is going to be built on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which revolves around artificial intelligence, the power of computing, blockchain technology and decentralised banking,” he said.
He added that digital currencies would soon become more widespread globally, arguing that central banks could eventually become obsolete as financial technology continues to evolve.
