Six members of the House of Representatives from Osun State announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Osogbo, the state capital.
The lawmakers, including Clement Akanni (Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency), Mahruf Adewale (Osogbo Federal Constituency), Bamidele Salam (Ede Federal Constituency), Soji Adetunji (Ikirun Federal Constituency), Mudashiru Lukman Alani (Iwo Federal Constituency), and Lanre Oladebo (Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency), made the declaration at a stakeholders meeting of the Accord Party in Osogbo.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Akanni projected a landslide victory for GoveOsun PDP Leadership Crisis Deepens as State Exco Rejects Dissolutionrnor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15, 2026 Osun gubernatorial election and urged Accord supporters not only to vote but also to monitor the polls closely.
The defectors said their move was driven by the belief that the Accord Party offers a more strategic platform to advance governance and electoral success in the state, aligning with Governor Adeleke’s own defection from the PDP to Accord in late 2025.
Governor Adeleke, present at the event, described his own shift to Accord as informed by spiritual guidance amid internal PDP turbulence and called on the new members and supporters to rally behind the party for victory.
