Six Final-Year LAUTECH Nursing Students Die in Road Crash

Six final-year nursing students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have reportedly lost their lives in a road accident while travelling to resume academic activities.

The leadership of the Elegant Nurses Forum of the institution confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the forum’s secretary, Olabisi James, the students were involved in a fatal crash along the Suleja–Abuja expressway on Sunday while heading back to school for their semester examinations.
“They were expected to resume face-to-face facilitation on Monday, February 23, 2026. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims,” the statement read.

The forum described the incident as a devastating loss to the university community, offering prayers for the repose of the deceased students and comfort for grieving families.

It also acknowledged the efforts of emergency responders and medical personnel who attended to the accident scene and urged road users to prioritise safety while travelling.
“We stand in solidarity with the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time,” the statement added.

As of the time of filing this report, the university management had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the tragedy has sparked reactions on social media, with several users expressing condolences and sharing photos of the deceased students online.
