Senator Natasha Files Sexual Harassment Complaint Against Senate President Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, on Wednesday submitted a formal petition to the Senate accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

She presented the complaint under Senate Rules Order 40, explaining that she had previously mentioned the issue in a television interview and was now taking the matter to the Senate.

Akpabio gave his approval for her to submit the petition, after which it was sent to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct for further investigation.

During the session, Akpabio denied the allegations, stating that he had never harassed any woman.

He clarified that he was raised by a single mother and had always respected women.

He also noted that he had been recognized as a governor who supported gender equality.

Akpabio mentioned that he had been receiving calls regarding the issue since February 25 and was aware that it was being widely discussed on social media.

However, he urged Nigerians to wait for the legal process to unfold instead of relying on online discussions to form judgments.
